Celebrate Diwali, visit Orange After Dark’s Psychic Fair this week

Campus is busy this week with Diwali celebrations on Shaw Quadrangle and Orange After Dark’s Psychic Fair at Schine Student Center.

First-Generation Week at Syracuse University
SU is hosting several events on campus this week for National First-Generation College Celebration Week. Events include a keynote address from Tianna Faye Soto, whose speech, “Living Between Worlds,” will center around the first-generation experience. The complete list of events can be found here.
When: Events Monday through Friday

Diwali 2024: Light up the Orange Grove
Celebrate Diwali by enjoying samosas and Indian sweets, followed by light illuminations at the Orange Grove. The College of Arts and Sciences hosts the event with the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students, the South Asian Student Association and Delta Phi Omega, a South Asian sorority. The celebration is free and open to the public.
When: Wednesday 4:45-8:30 p.m.
Where: Shaw Quadrangle, Orange Grove

LLL 50th Anniversary Global Film Series: Barbara
SU’s Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics is screening Christian Petzold’s acclaimed film, “Barbara,” as part of its film series celebrating the department’s 50th anniversary. The film follows a doctor in 1980s East Germany who finds herself punished in a small country hospital for wanting to escape to West Germany. The screening is free and open to the public.
When: Monday from 6:45-8:45 p.m.
Where: Huntington Beard Crouse Hall, Kittredge Auditorium

Knit 3 Spill the Tea
Come cast your spindles and tell your yarn at Knit 3 Spill the Tea. Participate in your favorite crocheting and sewing activities with fellow SU and SUNY ESF students. There’s nothing like a threaded quilt to keep warm in the harsh Syracuse winters. The event is free.
When: Friday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Schine Student Center, Room 132



Orange After Dark: Psychic Fair
Worried about finals week? Scared that you won’t ever find that special someone? Get a glimpse into your future at Orange After Dark’s Psychic Fair. A valid SUID and an RSVP through the ‘Cuse Activities portal are required to attend. No ticket is needed, but be warned — they can’t guarantee a good result.
When: Friday at 10 p.m. to Saturday at 1 a.m.
Where: Schine Student Center, Room 304S
