Surfaces perform with art from their newest album, “Hidden Youth,” displayed behind them. While Forrest Frank and Colin Padalecki led the show, their instrumentalists included a saxophone player and guitarist who took turns showing off solo performances.

Faye Webster performs some of her most popular songs with her name and an artistic self-portrait displayed behind her. As the show went on, she became more conversational with the audience and took a fan’s BeReal.

Audience members document the show in different ways, whether it be a cellphone or a digital camera. Students crammed toward the front of the stage, danced on the outskirts of the floor and enjoyed the music from seats in the stands.

Aminé interacts with the audience throughout his performance in different ways. Throughout the night, he pauses to say “you’re beautiful” and expects an “I know!” from the crowd in return.

Surfaces perform for the first time in months at Block Party. While Frank leads the vocals for the show, Padalecki experiments with multiple instruments, including the keyboard, electric guitar and cowbell.

Webster walks around the stage, interacting not only with the crowd but also with her bandmates. Her guitarist adds more color to the set through their frequent solos.

Frank moves between both sides of the stage as he performs. He and Padalecki encouraged their fans to sing along and returned any waves and smiles that they received from those at the front.

The performance by Block Party headliner Aminé begins with the crowd being asked to turn on their flashlights. His set started strong and remained high energy until the end of the night.

Aminé marks each increase of energy throughout his songs by telling the audience that the show is being turned up to the next percentage. The night started at “70%,” moved to “90-100%” where he performed songs like “Caroline” and ended with the song “Reel It In.”

Frank, one of two artists in Surfaces, sings music from a wide range of the pair’s albums. Frank said that it was his first time out of his house since having a baby boy.

Audience members enjoy Webster’s music and each other’s company at Block Party. Some sported their free University Union hats from Block Darty, where UU offered students a chance to customize them with spray paint.
