Syracuse released its Week 2 depth chart Monday morning, four days before the Orange (1-0) hosts No. 19 Louisville (1-0) at 8 p.m. on Friday night.
Here are some of the most significant notes.
— Freshman wide receiver/running back Devin Butler took over Jamal Custis’ spot behind Steve Ishmael at outside receiver. Custis was out with an injury against Colgate. Dino Babers said on Aug. 31 that he wasn’t sure if Butler would play this season because of SU’s depth at running back and receiver.
— Redshirt sophomores Juwan Dowels and Cordell Hudson swapped spots. Dowels is now the starter. Dowels had three tackles in the game and Hudson had four.
— Redshirt freshman Samuel Clausman took over redshirt freshman Colin Byrne’s position at backup left guard.
— Colin Byrne moved into the backup center spot.
— Sterling Hofrichter is now the team’s holder. He was listed as the backup holder to Zack Mahoney prior to the Colgate game, but Hofrichter held all the kicks.
— Jordan Fredericks slid into one of the kick returner spots. He was at the position on Friday. Junior Ervin Philips was listed as a kick returner prior to the Colgate game, but never went back to return. Estime returned both kickoffs for a total of 32 yards.
