Syracuse midfielder Julian Buescher has accepted a Generation Adidas contract offer from Major League Soccer and will be eligible for the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, he announced via Instagram.

He is just the second player to leave Syracuse early for the MLS. Former goalkeeper Alex Bono became the first last year.

The 2016 draft will be held on Jan. 14.

Buescher had a breakout sophomore season in 2015 leading the Orange to its first Final Four appearance and was named to the College Cup All-Tournament team. He was also a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy — college soccer’s top individual honor.

The German native led SU with 11 assists on the season and was second on the team with 27 points after recording just five points on five assists his freshman year.

Buescher is projected by SBI Soccer to go No. 13 overall to D.C. United.

Syracuse forward Ben Polk is also eligible for the draft and will be participating in the MLS players combine from Jan. 7 to Jan. 12, according to MLSsoccer.com.
